It’s a simple truth, internet marketing is a highly competitive field; and Affiliate Marketing is no exception. The reason why most people fail is that they lack proper training and knowledge. Of course, the information is available out there; but with so much to choose from, many tend to feel overwhelmed by it and that leads to inaction or ineffective action at best.
When you are hit by the information overload, the problem that paralyzes is knowing what to do. There are so many areas promoted as vehicles to make money online; from MLM and Network Marketing to Affiliate Marketing, including product launches and CPA offers, to making money with PLR (public lending right products), to selling on e-bay or amazon products… in fact there seems to be an opportunity at every turn. We are bombarded with money making schemes and then, there are the specific strategies and ways to monetize each. The more you learn, the more you will be faced with conflicting information and the more likely you are to be tempted by ‘greener’ pastures; particularly if what you are doing is not working as well as you would have thought, or not bringing you any money at all – which is sadly a common occurrence.
Internet Marketing – (and any of its sub-categories or niches) are extremely competitive, fast paced and evolving. In order to succeed you MUST be prepared to learn and constantly upgrade your skills. Even if you join a system that promises to make you money at a push of a button, or have the best product to offer – you will have to promote it so people can see it and join in or buy – No leads, no sign-ups or sales, no profits!
Having laid all out, let me be honest. I can’t and won’t suggest what area you should choose; you will have to do your own research and decide for yourself. Like I said before, I believe the opportunities to make money online abound. What I will do to help you, is give you a few things to consider that I hope will help your decision making process.
Here are the some points you will need to think about:
- Become an ‘expert’ in a particular niche. And I’m not talking just about an expert on either MLM or Affiliate Marketing – my point is that each area has particular skill sets and you can become proficient at a particular one. For example you can master prospecting calls or team building if you choose MLM or network marketing. Or you can be an expert at finding profitable products and niches to promote. You can master the valuable art of copywriting and apply this skill to any area. You see, what I’m trying to say here is find your strengths and learn, to build on them.
- Choose an area to focus on – decide what you want to focus on and don’t stray from your path. Stick to a narrow field that you can master more readily and you will start reaping the benefits of your efforts sooner.
- Think ‘outside the box’ - consider profiting using the internet as a medium to reach a huge audience, but in an area you are knowledgeable and/or passionate about. Can you write or create an eBook on a topic you have vast experience in? Could you offer ongoing training or practical assistance in your field? (ie. in fitness, as a consultant, artist).
- Brand and Market Yourself - it is a fact that Dr Phil or Doctor Oz are names that are recognized worldwide. That recognition is closely linked to their earnings – they may or may not be the best doctors in their respective fields; but they mastered the art of marketing and made themselves ‘visible’ in front of large audiences. Now they earn hundreds of times more than they would as a professional in their field.
That said, if you are going to promote either yourself, your business or a product online you will need to learn how to do it effectively and access certain tools the pros use to leverage their time and maximize their results.
