The World of the Internet:

It is vital you learn how to deal with the five most annoying people on the Internet, if you are to become a successful entrepreneur on the Web. While the Internet is massive in size, it has given millions of people a new found freedom. People who are able to express themselves in ways they would never be able to do if they were standing face to face with each other.

·    Google searches 1 trillion unique URLs daily
·    Miniwatts Marketing Group reports  in the 2nd quarter of 2008, there were 1.5 billion users
·    Over 5 billion pages are added and 5 billion pages spidered daily by Search Engines
·    According to Netcraft.com there were over 178 millions websites online, in August 2008

Warning:

However, great and all as Cyber Space is, you find you are bombarded with five of the most irritating types of people, who are hell bent on wasting your time. (And this completely ignores the unspeakable creatures known as ‘Spammers’.) Actually, we met a couple once, when they stayed at our place, Seachange Lodge Resort, in the tropical island nation of Vanuatu, in the South Pacific. Not bad looking, innocent older teenage guys. Somehow they managed to get our address blacklisted and closed down. Suddenly, when they were spiked and leapt on the next plane out of Vanuatu, we learned what they had been up to for six weeks. We even had a police car patrolling past our place looking for the offenders.

But we’re side-tracked off the subject. Let’s get back to beating the most irritating creatures on the Web:

Cretin:

First there is the Cretin who doesn’t have a great deal of value in his/her comments and likes to use loads of bad language. The Cretin barely appears to get out of bed in the mentality department and wants to relate everything to sex. (Not that there’s anything wrong with sex). Fortunately you can identify the Cretin easily, so you can beat the Cretin to death with the dreaded ‘Click Away’.

Lunatic:

The Lunatic is also pretty easy to recognize and seems harmless enough. You sometimes feel sorry for the Lunatic, who doesn’t appear to know the rules. The Lunatic has no use for anything that is logical, for everything the Lunatic has to say verifies the lunacy. However, the Lunatic may from time to time, have a flash of inspiration. This is often classed as being the act of an eccentric, who is sometimes seen to have whacky ideas that work. It’s through such eccentricity that we have the light bulb. Eddison was in the eccentric class, which is why many of his friends wrote him off. You need to skim read the Lunatic’s writing, looking for that rare moment of brilliance. It could be the very thing that sets your website above everyone else.

Moron:

Now the Moron isn’t quite so easy to identify, as the Moron mixes into the crowd and seems to think like everyone else. The Moron often appears to say the correct thing, but you ultimately discover there is a faulty logic behind the words. Sometimes you get trapped in the Moron’s illogical way of thinking, so if what the Moron is saying doesn’t fit in with your logic, ignore it. That is provided you know what your goals are.

Fool:

It seems the Fool doesn’t like to be on the same page as everyone else, frequently jamming his/her foot in the mouth. The Fool is unable to keep focused and is easily baffled. The Fool never has an original idea, or creative thought and is an expert at wasting time, particularly when he/she is out to sell you something of little or no value. The Fool can be some value however, if you are looking for a laugh. Like the Cretin, the Fool is easily spotted and a laugh a day can help retain your sanity.

Dummy:

The dummy is also easily baffled and quickly gets lost in Cyber Space, with the hard-to-get-a-handle-on language, which Internet gurus love to use. The dummy has to have everything explained in simple and easy to follow instructions, with NO STEPS MISSED OUT! Internet experts (squirts under pressure) have no feelings for the so called, lesser intelligent Dummy. While you may feel fed up with the Dummies, don’t thrash them to death. Their questions often clarify something you still need to learn. No matter how far you develop in Cyber Space, there is always another area where you will be the Dummy.

Then there is You.

So, having sorted everyone else out, there us you. You are a blend of all of the above and can be any one of the Annoying Five at any point in time. You even act and sound just the same as them. You have your own obstructions you need to get past, but there is only one pathway to the Summit of Success in Cyber Space. It is paved with Discipline, Patience Passion and Perseverance. There will always be those ahead of you and behind you, so learn to move on past those five annoying people on the Internet. Keep locked into your own goals and ambitions. If you hang on long enough to your dream of success, you too will taste the sweet fruit of a successful entrepreneur on the Summit of Success, in spite of those annoying people around you.
